Anyone ever do any miniature painting?  I have a bunch of unpainted plastic and pewter miniatures that I would like to start painting.  Anyone have any advice in this arena?  I got a good price on some Vallejo acrylic paints and all I need is some primer, brushes, magnifying glass and a few more colors.

I've painted a few though it takes me quite a while to actually get one done.  I've also got a bunch of old miniatures I got from an ex a long while back because she didn't want them and wasn't into painting them.  Some of them are very old school.  As far as the painting goes I'd make sure to check the minis you have for any flash or seams standing out.  If so just make to sure to file it down smooth and wash before priming.  That's the most important step to me.  I also do any kind of modifications or basing after that as well.  Other than that there is all kinds of ways to paint depending on how detailed you want and how quickly you want.  You can go from a single base coat of color and dipping in stain for a quick but decent enough look to using washes and highlighting which is usually what I do.  There are people that can do a lot more than that, including free style painting, but not me.  My middle of the road approach takes me long enough.

Thanks for the info!

I did find some nice detailed instructional videos on YT last night.  I did find out that the figures need to be thoroughly washed as well.  I need to get some spray primer as well.  I'll post pictures of the first one I finish.

Here's the last fellas I finished.  Took me a long long time to get them all done. I think a year at least, putting them down for a few months here and there.  Have fun and I can't wait to see what you've got.

Thanks.  I'd hoped to get them half-way decent for as long as I worked on them.  Hope you have fun with yours.

I really like that mini.  He's so very butch.  Looks like the strong silent type.  Nice one Russ.  What's next on your plate?  Is it the reaper you were showing us?

Possibly.  Although I bought a half-orc assassin (because it was the closest thing to a half-orc ranger I could find for my Pathfinder homebrew character) so I may do that one first.  I did pick up some spackle so I could finish the plastic bases off with some texture.
